About us

This site is different.  When given the option to retire at the ripe old age of 32 (versus fighting for the next thirty years), I took the meager pension and walked away from a more profitable future.

Ever noticed how everyone blogging about retirement living has something to sell?  It doesn’t matter what they are peddling, be it investments, or health insurance, or living someplace cheaper:  they aren’t retired – they’re still working.  Rest assured that I am not a Certified Financial Planner, an author promoting my books (but I may get around to it eventually) or a travel promoter (although I do a little bit of that, too.)  I’m trying my hand at creating community here in Cyberspace.  Taxes are low – you can’t beat that!

I’m living the dream.  I’m not wealthy, but I’m not clipping coupons, either.  No, I don’t have a JOB which I hate.  I don’t have an office (at least not right now) and I don’t have a BOSS.  I travel more than most people.  I don’t suffer from Adventure Deficit Disorder and I gave up keeping up with the neighbors a long time ago.

Please feel welcome to be one of the first to join my counter-culture movement.  You can retire at age 18, but you have to be able to afford it.  At StayingRetired we will explore living WAY below poverty level (if you only look at the money side of things) and having more fun while doing it.
